MMU Business School crowned one of the best

MMU is celebrating after being awarded an inaugural Small Business Charter mark at a prestigious 10 Downing Street ceremony, in recognition of the role it has played in helping to kick-start British enterprise. It is one of only 20 business schools across the country to receive the trailblazing award - backed by the Association of Business Schools – acknowledging it as a ‘centre of excellence’. The Charter unlocks a host of benefits in MMU’s mission to drive the regional economy, including the ability to invest directly in start-ups and entrepreneurs through Government grants. The awards were developed after Lord Young, the Prime Minister’s adviser on enterprise, released his report ‘Growing Your Business’ which was aimed at bringing business schools, businesses and enterprise closer together.

Enterprise Fellows Ian Gibbs and Jennie Shorley, from MMU’s Centre for Enterprise (CfE), led the bid. “This award puts us right up there with the top business schools as a centre of excellence for this crucial area of work,” Ian said. “We’re very proud as we’ve worked hard to help small business.
