The Managing Director of Salford-based furniture manufacturer, Forest Sofa, is ready to take the next steps in business growth and expansion, thanks to the support of Manchester Metropolitan University’s Faculty of Business & Law.

Ryan Mohieddin has been supported by the University’s Greater Manchester High Growth Network, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Ryan said: “When I applied to the High Growth Network I had been Managing Director for around 12 months. While I had plenty of ambition and ideas to grow the company, things seemed to be stalling.

“The programme helped me focus and I was able to clearly define the path that I wanted to take. I realised that my previous approach had been too scatter gun. I had been pushing in all the wrong directions and going nowhere.”

Thanks to the help and advice of the expert team at Manchester Metropolitan, and the wider business network, Ryan has been able to amalgamate two of his company’s existing retail brands in to one clear channel.

“The longer the course went on, the more I realised that dedicating time to working on my business was far more productive than being in the office every day,” Ryan explains.

“I developed confidence in the direction I wanted to take the company but I also learnt about the importance of taking the team with you and improving communication techniques to achieve this.”

With over 50 years of experience and, as a leading UK furniture manufacturer, Forest Sofa is now set to continue its success and growth under Ryan’s management.

Ryan added: “The course was great and the opportunity to network with other business owners was invaluable. I would recommend to anyone with a specific problem or business idea, to be open and honest as the programme enables you to share ideas and gain thought provoking and constructive feedback.”

The Greater Manchester High Growth Network offers a fully funded high-impact business support activities for small and medium (SME) businesses seeking growth. To date over 100 companies have completed the 12-week programme.
