Liverpool Business School at Liverpool John Moores University has been awarded the prestigious Small Business Charter accreditation for three years.

This recognition demonstrates the school’s work to support small businesses, student entrepreneurship, and the local economy. Its strong engagement with external stakeholders, including Liverpool City Council and local business networks are key to its success, showing a clear commitment to regional enterprise.

Initiatives such as the Liverpool Business Clinic, Entrepreneur-in-Residence Scheme, and Start-Up Hub were highlighted as examples of the school’s practical and inclusive approach to enterprise education, providing meaningful support to both student start-ups and regional SMEs.

Adam Shore, Director of Liverpool Business School: “We are delighted that Liverpool Business School has earned Small Business Charter accreditation in recognition of our excellence and impact. The school is committed to working closely with businesses and entrepreneurs and delivering tailored, targeted support to enable them to grow, innovate and succeed. Gaining SBC accreditation is evidence of the positive impact of our teaching and learning, research and enterprise across the Liverpool City region and beyond.”

The panel of assessors also noted the school’s strategic focus, led by its Small Business and Entrepreneurship Research Group, on collaboration, innovation, and its ability to connect academic expertise with real-world business needs.

Flora Hamilton, Executive Director of the Small Business Charter and CEO of the Chartered Association of Business Schools, said:

“It’s great to welcome Liverpool Business School into the Small Business Charter network. Their strong engagement with local communities and hands-on support for small businesses reflects a clear commitment to regional growth and enterprise. This is a well-deserved milestone, and we’re excited to see how their collaborative approach continues to drive innovation across the region.”
