Birkbeck Business School has successfully been reaccredited by the Small Business Charter for another three years.

The panel of assessors praised the school for its robust, inclusive, and forward-looking entrepreneurship ecosystem, which effectively supports small businesses and student entrepreneurship.

The assessors were particularly impressed by the school’s strong physical presence in the local business community, its commitment to enterprise and entrepreneurship across academic and extracurricular activities, and the integration of employability and entrepreneurial support through Birkbeck Careers and Enterprise.

The school’s commitment to student enterprise is further demonstrated through its flagship Pioneer 1.0 and Pioneer 2.0 programmes, which were commended for supporting over 500 students with business ideas equipping them with the knowledge, confidence, and networks to bring those ideas to life.

Professor Andy Adcroft, Head of Birkbeck Business School said:

“The Small Business Charter is incredibly important to the Business School at Birkbeck. Over the past few years, it has allowed us to engage with a range of dynamic and exciting businesses through the Help to Grow: Management programme which has created a whole new group of stakeholders for us to work with. The reaccreditation demonstrates our commitment to being an outward looking business school that is always open to opportunities to put our world class research to work as we support small businesses in their growth agenda.”

Flora Hamilton, Executive Director of the Small Business Charter and CEO of the Chartered Association of Business Schools, said:

“Congratulations to Birkbeck Business School on their well-deserved reaccreditation. Their commitment to enterprise and SME support is clear through their strong presence in the local business community and their work to embed entrepreneurship across academic and extracurricular activities. We look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting their efforts to foster inclusive, sustainable growth.”

The Small Business Charter is an accreditation assessed by small business leaders, to recognise business schools which are centres of excellence in supporting small businesses, student enterprise, and the local economy.

There are 68 business schools across the UK and Ireland that hold the Small Business Charter accreditation.
