The UK Government is calling businesses who have had exceptional accomplishments in the field of exporting goods to enter the Made in the UK, Sold to the World Awards. Any UK business with up to 250 employees and a turnover of no more than £50 million can enter the awards for free.

The Department of Business and Trade  set up the awards to “celebrate the international sales success of SMEs across the UK and provide a stepping stone for further growth and opportunity.”

Winning businesses will now benefit from a greater package as a result of Lloyds Bank becoming a partner in the 2025 awards. The financial institution joins founding partner, the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade, in their support of the awards. Those who win the 2025 competition will receive:

  • a year’s free business membership to the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade

  • a working capital masterclass with Lloyds Bank

  • bespoke promotion on the Department for Business and Trade’s channels

  • professional photos of their business and usage rights

  • an invitation to the winners’ reception in Parliament

  • a trophy, certificate, and digital badge

This year, the categories of the awards have been expanded to include Digital & Technology and Export Services, providing the opportunity for more businesses to enter. The other categories include Advanced Manufacturing & Construction; Agriculture, Food & Drink; Consultancy & Professional Services; Creative Industries; Education & EdTech; Financial Services & FinTech; Healthcare; Infrastructure and Engineering; Low Carbon Energy; Retail and Consumer Goods.

The deadline to enter the competition is March 9. For those who want to look at the submission form before completing it, a pdf copy of the Sector Categories Form can be found through this link, and a copy of the Export Services Form is here. In a statement about the awards, Gareth Thomas, Minister for Services, Small Businesses and Exports said:

“When small businesses export, it opens a wealth of incredible opportunities. These awards are a testament to the innovation that British SMEs display day in, day out.

“As we enter the new year, our Plan for Change is about ensuring businesses across the country can thrive and grow. This will boost jobs and wages and firms that export are at the forefront of that growth. I encourage all those who have started on the exporting ladder to enter and showcase their success.”

Former winner of the award, Peter Harrington, CEO of SimVenture commented on the impact of the award: “Winning the Made in the UK, Sold to the World Award has significantly elevated our profile on the global stage. This accolade not only celebrates our achievements but also helps us penetrate challenging markets with renewed credibility.”
