Research and Innovation Information Hub Implementation: Joni Rhodes, University of Portsmouth

Overview

As the new organisational strategy emerged Joni identified that at a departmental level these ambitious targets would require an increase in R&I activity and performance.  Furthermore, staff were requesting access to information which had previously been collected on an adhoc basis; which was an inefficient and time consuming approach.  Joni set out to create an online repository for R&I resources which worked on a practical level to increase access to information and in turn knowledge, and also to address some of the cultural aspects to aim for a more proactive approach.

Impact of Project in the workplace

There has been an excellent impact to the workplace with the new R&I repository:-

  • Met colleagues requests
  • Clear and accessible - essential in light of remote working practices
  • All information in a convenient location
  • Information is of the correct level of detail and easy to maintain
  • Acts as a signpost for investigators
  • Save time and effort for colleagues
  • Easily adaptive to suit other faculties needs
