New Appointments to the SBC Management Board

We are delighted to announce two new appointments to the Small Business Charter Management Board:

Dr Matt Sutherland is an Associate Professor in Marketing at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University.

Matt played a leading role in developing Newcastle Business School’s application when it was awarded the Small Business Charter in 2015. Since then, he has been actively involved with the SBC, as the business school’s liaison, presenting at events, and as an assessor. Matt has also been involved in the ‘Leading to Grow’ programme that is based on the SBC’s successful application to round Two of Business Basics. Matt is also a trained Assessor and has Chaired a number of SBC assessments

In addition, Matt will bring to the Board his experience of working with the Government and on inputting in to policy.

Professor Alistair Anderson is Distinguished Professor at Lancaster University Management School.

Alistair is an experienced academic who specialises in understanding small business and entrepreneurship. His passion for developing and sharing small business knowledge comes from his early career as a businessman, where he learned how small businesses work. Alistair understands the challenges of running a business and his experience will help the SBC Board to support small businesses at these challenging times.

Alistair is Fellow of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Editor of Entrepreneurship and Regional Development.
