How business schools engage with the regional agenda
UK business schools drive local and regional economic growth by engaging locally and nationally with businesses, communities and government and make a significant contribution to the local economies. They help to improve productivity and help shape growth by supporting the regional agenda. The event will look at how to align business school strategic priorities with regional priorities for economic growth.
The Chartered Association of Business School’s Taskforce report - 'Business schools: delivering value to local and regional economies' illustrates the role of universities as regional anchors with local bodies such Local Enterprise Partnerships and as SBC award holders there is a key focus on local SMEs and how to support start-ups and scale-ups.
This workshop will explore the role of business schools as ‘anchor institutions’ and in building connections in the region. We will be sharing examples of business school interaction in the regional agenda, and participants will have plenty of opportunity for Q&A and discussions.
Participants will get an insight into:
- How some business schools are participating in their regional growth agenda
- New perspectives on business schools operating in different geographical contexts, comparing business schools in major cities with those further afield.
- How large and small or specialised institutions are working with government and other organisations to deliver regional priorities
